Genealogy & Museum

The library/museum has more than 1,100 unofficial birth certificates for children who attended St. Johnsville schools in the 1920s and 1930s. The certificates were submitted upon school registration. They include name of student, birth date, father’s name, mother’s maiden name, town of birth, and registration information.

Below are lists of registration cards filled out by men, women and children for the St. Johnsville Home Emergency Committee. This committee was formed in 1940 to help the community prepare for various types of emergencies. By July 29, 1940 at least 480 cards had been filled out and signed including those by 96 women, 82 school boys, 29 school girls, and 273 men. Cards asked for information on date and place of birth, occupation, address and telephone no., whether the registrant owned an auto, truck, or firearm, whether the registrant had military training
